Google uses cars to drive around the world to take pictures of their surroundings, although many countries use the same car there are many outliers, we can use this to our advantage to determine the place we’re in.
- The car’s colour, the standard colour for a geoguessr car is white, however there are countries where this isn’t the case. The most notable example is Ukraine where the car is red.
- Car VS Truck, there are numerous countries that use a pickup truck to transport the camera. This can help us narrow down countries if we’re stuck between two choices that are similar linguistically, environmentally, and in terms of architecture.
- Bars & Tape, only a few countries uses a car with bars and subsequently black tape, we can tell the exact country based on the pattern of tape on bars. For example, Kyrgyzstan has no tape, but has black lines.
- Camera height, only 7 countries in the world had “low cam” coverage, as the name suggests the camera is placed lower on the car which we can tell by the how the surroundings look. The countries are India, Japan, Sri Lanka, Liechtenstein, New Zealand, Ecuador, and Swtizerland.
- Country specific metas, this is where it gets the trickiest, but most effective. There are some vehicles that have exclusive traits, in my opinion the most prominent one is Kenya which has a snorkel on the top of a silver pickup truck.
